When You Come
What to expect when you join us:
We would like you to be our guest and share with us the joy that comes from being a worshiping part of Christ’s family and then stay for fellowship and delicious treats around the table.
A little about us: Our 10:00 am Sunday worship is in a relaxed style with old familiar hymns, newer contemporary music as well, and lasts about an hour. Pastor Joyce Slostad preaches using the Bible as her base and the sermons are relevant to what people are experiencing in their day to day lives.
We come from all walks of life and differing faith traditions, but we are on the journey together and invite you to see if you’d like to take a walk of faith with us.
Wear the clothes you are comfortable in – we are not fashion conscious and neither is God. God loves you just as you are and we will too!
We are a church that doesn't subscribe to long lists of do's and don'ts that people have to follow to be United Methodist. We proclaim the truth from God's Word and allow the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us in personal application of the Bible's message.
We are a diverse church in that we come from various backgrounds of life and faith. In areas such as politics or theology United Methodist Christians see things from different perspectives. Our unity is found at the foot of cross, where we find grace and forgiveness. We are a church that strives to work with other Christians in the community for the common good.
We affirm the essentials of the Christian faith. With John Wesley the founder of the Methodist movement in matters of Christian doctrine we would say “on essentials unity, on non-essentials charity."
Our Mission: The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We fulfill this mission through three "Gospel Imperatives":
- Grow in Love of God and Neighbor (the Great Commandment, Matthew 22:37-40),
- Reach New People (the Great Commission, Matthew 28:19-20), and
- Heal a Broken World (the Great Proclamation, Luke 4:16-21).
Our Method of studying God: In the United Methodist Church we seek God's guidance and direction primarily through Scripture, but in interaction with church tradition, intellectual reason and our own Christian experience. In the United Methodist Church it is OK to ask tough questions.
